Piano Lounge

Instrumental solo piano that fits the room: familiar, elegant and at a volume that leaves room for conversation. This is the format I play myself.

Repertoire

Songbooks

Mexican and Latin American: Manzanero, Cantoral, Consuelo Velázquez, boleros. American: Ellington, Sinatra and jazz standards. All played with jazz harmonies and phrasing.

My own compositions

Pieces such as Meet You at the Martini and Valentina, written for this kind of setting. I shape the repertoire around the place and the moment, and welcome requests in advance.

Through the day

Breakfast and morning

Gentle standards and bossa nova, present without asking for attention.

Lunch and afterwards

Boleros and Mexican songs, to make you want to stay a little longer.

Afternoon and cocktails

More swing and more familiar tunes: the moment when the piano becomes part of the plan.

Dinner

Ballads, jazz and requests, with the volume kept right for the service.

How I fit in

My own equipment

My own digital piano and sound equipment, at a volume that leaves room for conversation. For larger spaces, I connect to the venue’s sound system.

A discreet setup

A corner near a power socket. Cables secured and out of the way.

Dressed for the occasion

Jacket and tie. Without getting in the way of the service.

Your piano

If the venue has a piano, I’m happy to play it.
