Yan KayaryMusic & Musical Direction ES

Ensembles and collaborations

Alongside solo piano, I’ve played, arranged and directed with other musicians. Here I distinguish the work on record from the line-ups I can put together for an event.

On record

Arranging, production and direction

Several years working with singer-songwriter Ramón Nogueira in Boca del Río: arranging, production and musical direction, including the 2011 live recording at Hotel Castelo.

Groups I’ve founded

Founder of Último Tren, also billed as Yan Carlo Kayary Quarteto, and YAM Jazz Trio. Musical director of Teorema, Roxana Río’s group.

Jazz piano trio

Standards with piano, bass and drums: the classic jazz trio, for dinner, a cocktail hour or an evening of its own.

I play piano and direct; I choose and listen to the other two musicians before proposing them for each occasion. I’ve founded and directed groups like this, including YAM Jazz Trio.

Other line-ups

Keyboard with guitar, saxophone or violin, depending on the project.

Line-ups I can coordinate

When an event calls for more than piano, I find and assess the right musicians and coordinate the technical side.

  • Piano and saxophone, or piano and strings.
  • Piano and voice, including the Alma & Yan duo.
  • Ensembles for a ceremony, cocktail hour or dinner.

None of these line-ups has musicians booked in advance. I won’t commit an artist I haven’t heard; if I can’t personally recommend someone for your date, I’ll say so in good time. You hire the musicians directly, and my coordination fee is separate and clearly stated.
